West Indies tour of Australia, 2022 – Warner, Starc, Marsh, and Stoinis return for Australia ahead of title defense

Injuries seemed to have dampened the Australian men’s cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup, which will begin on October 16, 2022. However, there is some good news if you are an Australian men’s cricket team fan.

Popular names like Stoinis, David Warner, and Mitchell Marsh are set to return to the team. They may be given a chance to play against the West Indies in the T20I series. This is to probably add to the final touches of preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup.

David Warner, who is one of Australia’s batting mainstay’s is back after being rested from the three-match T20I India tour. Mitchell Marsh, the all-rounder whose batting & bowling were clearly missed, is back after an ankle injury.

A surprise entry here is pace spearhead Mitchell Starc. Starc was suffering from a knee issue, and we just hope that the lanky man is completely healed. Ashton Agar and Kane Richardson, who have been picked for the 15-man T20 World Cup squad, do not take part in this series.

This is according to National Selection Panel (NSP) Chair George Bailey, who was quoted saying, “We have and are taking a cautious approach with the World Cup on the near horizon,” by cricket.com.au.

“We anticipate Kane and Ashton will return for the following series against England.” Marcus Stoinis, the handsome Aussie, was missing some action because of an aggravated side strain during the ODI series against New Zealand in September.

Stoinis was left out during the T20I tour to India. There is some sad news from the West Indies camp that dashing batsman Shimron Hetmyer is not going to the World Cup. Hetmyer played crucial knocks during the IPL at the death overs and was deemed the main batting stay.

One would want to keenly observe as to what the West Indies men’s team is going to be doing about it. The fortunes seem to be contrasting them at the moment. Australian skipper Aaron Finch is a delighted man now.

However, they do not want to stress Marsh by making him do the bowling. Their top order looks pretty complete with Warner back in the squad. Tim David is one amazing player who has been given a chance.

A name that goes missing here is Steve Smith. Steve Smith has been the hero for the Australian men’s cricket team, and it looks like the team management wants to focus on younger blood for now by including guys like Tim David.

A notable man is Cameron Green, whose power-hitting abilities were noted in India. However, he is not part of the team’s plans for the moment. But you never know how luck might strike you in the form of an injury.
